So we have a confession to make...
When we were in Hong Kong, we planned to have a true, authentic Chinese meal and not be so...you know...American. Because of our two tours, the only real opportunity to do this was Saturday night.
Unfortunately our tour that afternoon ran 2 hours late so we were left scrambling. We tried a couple of noodle bars, but they were way too packed and we couldn't wait. So we ate at the first place we saw that didn't have a wait.
So there we were....in Hong Kong, one of the most amazing food cities in the entire world...and we decided to eat at...wait for it...wait for it........Shakey's Pizza!
I must say, the pizza was awesome. But that's not the point. We felt shame.
Anyway, that all changed when we got to Nanjing. Our guide took us to a non-touristy place where the locals eat. It was delicious. Dumplings. Chicken and onions. Fried corn. Broccoli and garlic sauce. Here are a few pix...

Yummy!!! My mouth is watering! You guys look great! We miss you so much. 9 more hours until Jack. So excited!! Love you!
ReplyDeleteI can almost taste each dish from here. Hey, you can get Chinese Food all over Florida, but how many Shakey Pizza restaraunts are there? Like you said, Hong Kong is more like New York anyway...Sounds like your Guide watches Anthony Bourdain....(:>)
ReplyDeleteI miss the great food we had! I loved the fried corn. That was one of our favorites. Remember we all went o KFC in Lanzhou once, and we ate " American food" t the hotel a couple of times. Can't wait to see pictures of Jack!
ReplyDeleteJeff REALLY appreciates the food report! Looks AMAZING -- we want take out :)
ReplyDeleteYou guys look so relaxed -- and I am about to burst with excitement.
