Apparently the way the process works here is...the first 24 hours with your child is sort of a trial period. Then you need to go back to the Civil Affairs office to say whether you still want to go through with everything.
So today we went back and officially became Jack's parents!
Below are some more pix from the last day or so. Jack slept really well and woke up fine. Maybe a little confused that we're all still here! Then we went to breakfast (he's a good eater) and off to make things official.
Then we went a little American. Our guide took us to Walmart (her idea, not ours) to pick up a few things. Then we went to Pizza Hut for lunch (our idea, not hers).
And that's pretty much it for today! Kind of boring. Oh yeah one more thing. There's a typhoon barreling right towards us. Ok then.

Pizza hut and Walmart- what an All American Day. Glad all is going well. He is a doll. Enjoy your time settling in. A typhoon- how exciting?? How many people do you know that can say they have been in a typhoon in China? Does that make you feel any better?

It's official and we are OFFICIALLY THRILLED! We love the pictures of the 4 of you. Thumb suckers are generally even tempered and good sleepers. Jack and his grandmother N. have that in common as well as his Auntie Hilary (and our teeth grew in straight (so don't worry). A TYPHOON? OY>
ReplyDeleteWe all love you sooooo much. Enjoy your days.
I am so excited for all of you. Avery is doing a great job at being the big sister and you and Mike could not look any happier! I must admit that I feel like my life is on hold as I constantly check the blog and e-mails from you and eagerly anticipate your arrival home. Love you and miss you soooooooo much!

Hi Guys,
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of Jack sleeping are so precious . . . he looks so peaceful and all of you look so at home together. And if the pictures are any indication, Avery is having the time of her life :)
XO, Christine
(when we adopted Camille that 24 hour "trial run" was called the "Harmonious Period" -- we always got a kick out of the name).
Our guide called it the honeymoon period. So happy to hear the transition has been easy. Enjoy this special time.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you all! So very amazing!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteAN OFFICIAL CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm all "feclempt"... : )
ReplyDeleteCongratulations guys! Jack is such a handsome guy!!! Reminds us so much of when we got our Tai guy!!! Our Ali is so sweet and dainty, just precious. She is so different than her crazy brother. Tai has been amazing and just adores her. Our hotel is AWFUL and I have emailed GW and haven't heard from them. I am so disappointed in them and don't know what to do. Other families here have moved to the Marriot and we feel stuck. It is dirty and we keep finding dead worms in our room. We are so ready to get to GZ! Tai keeps asking about "his friend from Hong Kong" - so he will be thrilled to see Avery and have a playmate! Thinking of you all and looking forward to seeing you soon. Just lovin your new little man!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave not left home without my IPad to check the blog...officially I am thrilled with my new grand nephew...Avery is amazing and so are you.
