Now that we are in the"travel phase" of this process, we are working with the best counselor we have had in the past 6 years. She responds to my emails within minutes and actually knows the answers. She is friendly and positive and seems to care about the families she is working with. Part of our frustration with this process has been dealing with people who were not qualified, not educated, or who just didn't care about it. That said, JENNY TEAGUE at GWCA, we think you are great!
We finally sent our Chinese visa applications this week. That was also a very exciting step. We are now waiting for an official appointment date at the American Consulate in Guangzhou. Once that has been set, we can book our flights. I am HOPING to travel in August, but we have no control over anything at this point.
Our agency offers a service to families who are preparing to travel--they will be sending a care package to Jack in the orphanage, along with a letter from us that will be translated into Chinese! We also sent a package on our own about a month ago, but we have no way of knowing if it arrived. The package we sent included a photo album of our family, a stuffed animal and pacifiers. We also sent a bunch of toothbrushes, floss and tooth paste, courtesy of my awesome bosses, Dr. Michael and Misty Roseff. We included a camera in the package so the nannies could take pictures of Jack's life before becoming a Morrison!! The package from our agency will also include a camera, so we are hoping to get lots of pictures of Jack and friends in his first home.
Thanks for reading our blog! We will try to keep it interesting as we prepare to travel.
